Terms of service

These terms govern your use of BookMatcher (the “Service”), operated by BookMatcher, Inc. (“we”, “us”). By using the Service, you agree to these terms. Please read them.

1. Acceptance

You accept these terms when you create an account or otherwise use the Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use BookMatcher. If you are between 13 and 18, you must have a parent or guardian's permission.

3. Accounts & security

You are responsible for the security of your account credentials and for all activity that happens under your account. Notify us at support@bookmatcher.app if you suspect unauthorized use.

4. Acceptable use

• Do not abuse, harass, or threaten others.
• Do not scrape, reverse-engineer, or attempt to overload the Service.
• Do not upload illegal content or content that infringes third-party rights.
• Do not impersonate others or misrepresent your affiliation.

5. Your content

You retain ownership of the content you create on BookMatcher (lists, ratings, reviews, profile info). You grant us a non-exclusive license to host, display, and distribute that content as needed to operate the Service.

6. Subscriptions

Some features require a paid BookMatcher Premium subscription. Premium is sold exclusively through the Apple App Store and is billed to your Apple Account. The price, the billing period, and the length of any free trial are shown on our pricing page and again at the point of purchase before you confirm.

Subscriptions renew automatically for the same term at the then-current price. Apple charges your Apple Account within 24 hours before the end of each period, and this continues until you cancel. If your subscription begins with a free trial, it converts into a paid subscription unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends.

How to cancel. Because Apple processes the payment, you cancel through Apple — not through BookMatcher, and there is no cancellation setting inside the app or on this website. Open apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions (or, on your iPhone or iPad, Settings → your name → Subscriptions → BookMatcher) and choose Cancel Subscription. Cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period to avoid being charged for the next one. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for, and Premium stays active until then.

Refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple under the App Store terms of sale. You can request one at reportaproblem.apple.com. If you need help finding or cancelling a subscription, write to support@bookmatcher.app and we will walk you through it.

7. Termination

You can delete your account any time from Settings. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or applicable law. We will give you notice when we can, and you will retain the ability to export your data for a reasonable period.

8. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is”. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability or that recommendations will perfectly match your taste. Library availability data is sourced from third parties and reflects their accuracy.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, BookMatcher is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising out of your use of the Service. Our aggregate liability for any claim is limited to the greater of $100 or the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced in the app or by email at least 30 days before they take effect.
